Because healing always begins with TRUST.
TRUST - My Approach
Healing begins with TRUST. I developed this framework through my lived experience of trauma and professional work with individuals, schools, and organisations. Too often, when people feel overwhelmed or dysregulated, they are judged for the reactions rather than supported in finding safety again.
The TRUST approach provides a clear, compassionate pathway to help people move from dysregulation back to calm and connection.
- T - Trigger Recognition: The first step is awareness. By recognising what triggers us, we begin to understand the body's natural survival responses. Naming the trigger reduces confusion and brings clarity.
- R - Reassurance: When we are dysregulated, reassurance is vital. This may come from ourselves or from a safe other. Reassurance tells the nervous system that we are not alone and that the danger has passed.
- U - Understanding: Compassion replaces judgement. By understanding why a reaction is happening - rather than shaming or dismissing it - we create the conditions for healing. Understanding transforms 'What's wrong with me?' into 'This happened to me and this makes sense'.
- S - Safety: Safety is the foundation of recovery. This can mean physical safety, emotional safety, or relational safety. When safety is restored, the nervous system can return to balance and the person can reconnect with themselves and others.
- T-Truth: Trauma often silences people or leaves them doubting their own reality. Truth is about reclaiming your voice, being authentic, and honouring your lived experience. Truth allows us to grow with dignity and integrity.

Why I Created TRUST
I created the TRUST approach because I saw how often people in survival states were misunderstood. Instead of being supported, they were judged, dismissed or pathologised. I wanted a simple, compassionate framework that anyone could remember - whether in therapy, school, or everyday life - to help guide people back to regulation and safety.
TRUST is both a personal philosophy and a practical tool. It reminds us that even in moments of fear, overwhelm, or chaos, we can return to safety through recognition, reassurance, understanding, safety, and truth.
Because healing always begins with TRUST.
